Pediatrics Services
At Western Medical Center Santa Ana, we care for our little patients, we offer comprehensive pediatric services for children of all ages, from birth to 16 years. Whether a child is scheduled for regular surgery or needs acute or intensive care, we can help. We have intensive care units for newborns and children, and an area designated for children's acute care.
Family:
We know how important families are to little ones, that's why we take a family-centered care approach and encourage active involvement of parents and siblings whenever possible. We also have a full-time child-life therapist on staff to help our little patients and their siblings adjust to some big changes in their lives. The therapist involves the children in play therapy and diversional activities through out their stay in Western Medical Center Santa Ana.
Safari Tours:
Children scheduled for pre-planned surgery are eligible to take "Safari Tours". These tours show children in advance where they'll be admitted; how it feels to be wheeled down the hallway on a bed; what an anesthesia mask looks like, and where they'll be when they wake up. These tours help to answer children's questions and allay fears they might have.
